Prices checked Oct 19, 2026 on each vendor's official pricing page. Software companies change prices and run promos often, so confirm before you buy.

If you run a small residential cleaning business, your software needs are pretty specific. You want recurring visits that schedule themselves, reminders that cut down on lockouts and no-shows, quotes you can send from your car, and a way to get paid by card without chasing anyone. Jobber and Housecall Pro both do all of that. The real differences are in which plan you need and what it costs.

This guide compares them for the two most common situations: a solo cleaner and a crew of two to five people. Every price below comes from each company's official pricing page, checked on October 19, 2026.

Jobber was also running a new-customer promotion when we checked (for example, Core at $21/mo for the first 12 months on annual billing), which it says ends October 30, 2026. We used the regular prices above so the comparison stays useful after promos end.

What a cleaning business actually needs

Before comparing plans, it helps to be honest about which features matter for cleaning. Most cleaning owners we hear from care about these, roughly in this order:

  1. Recurring visits. Weekly, biweekly and monthly cleans are the backbone of a residential cleaning business. Both apps support recurring jobs. Jobber's help center describes weekly, biweekly, monthly and custom repeat schedules. Housecall Pro's describes daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and custom recurrences, where each visit becomes its own job with its own invoice.
  2. Automatic appointment reminders. A reminder text the day before saves you from locked doors and "oh, was that today?" calls.
  3. Getting paid without chasing. Card-on-file or automatic payments for regular clients, plus automatic follow-ups on unpaid invoices.
  4. Quick quotes. Move-out cleans, deep cleans and first-time cleans are usually quoted. You want a professional quote you can send from your phone. See our guide to sending professional quotes from your phone.
  5. Team basics (if you have helpers): assigning visits, clock-in/clock-out, and the cleaner seeing the job notes and entry instructions on their phone.

Solo cleaner: which plan you'd really pay for

On paper Jobber wins easily. Core is $29/mo billed annually against Housecall Pro Basic at $59/mo. But look at what each entry plan includes.

Jobber Core includes online booking, quotes, invoices with online payments, a simple website and basic reporting. According to Jobber's pricing page, automated client reminders, automatic payment collection, and automated quote and invoice follow-ups are added on the Connect plan, along with QuickBooks Online sync and time and expense tracking. Connect for one user is $99/mo billed annually, $119/mo with a 1-year commitment, or $139/mo with no commitment.

Housecall Pro Basic lists online booking, scheduling and dispatching, estimates and invoicing, payments and consumer financing, a price book, job costing and review management. The pricing page says invoices come with automated reminders. Housecall Pro's help center also documents automated customer notifications for jobs, including "scheduled," "on my way" and "reminder" messages. The pricing page doesn't say whether job reminders are limited to certain plans, so confirm reminders work on Basic during your trial (the trial runs on MAX, which has everything).

The honest math for a solo cleaner:

  • If you're happy texting reminders yourself, Jobber Core ($29/mo annual, $49/mo month-to-month) is the cheapest professional setup.
  • If you want reminders and payment follow-ups automated, compare Jobber Connect ($99/mo annual) with Housecall Pro Basic ($59/mo annual). Here Housecall Pro can come out cheaper, provided its Basic plan covers the automations you need.

Crew of 2 to 5: nearly identical pricing

Once you add helpers, the prices converge. Jobber Connect with 5 users and Housecall Pro Essentials with 5 users are both $149/mo billed annually. On monthly billing, Jobber Connect is $199/mo with no commitment ($169/mo with a 1-year commitment), and Housecall Pro Essentials is $189/mo.

What you get for that money differs a bit:

Feature lists as shown on each pricing page, Oct 19, 2026.
Jobber Connect adds (over Core)Housecall Pro Essentials adds (over Basic)
  • Automated client reminders
  • Automatic payment collection
  • Job checklists
  • Automated quote and invoice follow-ups
  • QuickBooks Online sync
  • Time and expense tracking
  • Routes (group and sequence jobs)
  • Flat-rate pricing
  • Checklist automations
  • Photo reports and annotations
  • Employee GPS tracking
  • Commissions
  • QuickBooks Online sync

For a cleaning crew, checklists matter a lot. A room-by-room checklist keeps quality consistent when you're not on site. Both mid-tier plans include them. Photo reports on Housecall Pro Essentials are handy for documenting move-out cleans or pre-existing damage. Jobber lists job notes, photos and attachments as a core feature, and adds unlimited photo and video storage on its higher Plus plan.

If you pay cleaners per job or by percentage, Housecall Pro's commissions feature on Essentials is worth a look. If you pay hourly, Jobber Connect's time tracking covers clock-in and clock-out from the mobile app.

Payments and fees

Card fees add up quickly on recurring cleaning revenue. On $6,000 a month in card payments, every 0.3 percentage points is about $18 a month.

  • Jobber: online card payments are 2.9% + 30¢ on every plan. Tap to Pay on the mobile app is 2.7% + 30¢. ACH bank payments are 1%. Instant payouts cost an extra 1%.
  • Housecall Pro: card processing "as low as 2.59%," with bank payments at 1%. The pricing page doesn't spell out the full rate table. Ask what rate you'd actually get, and whether there's a per-transaction fee, before you commit.

For weekly clients, nudging them to pay by bank transfer (ACH) at 1% instead of card can save real money on either platform.

Add-ons that can raise the bill

Both companies sell extras. When we checked, Jobber listed Marketing Suite ($99/mo), an AI Receptionist ($29/mo) for calls and texts, and Pipeline ($49/mo) for lead tracking. Housecall Pro lists add-ons such as CSR AI, Pipeline, Payroll, Voice and Websites but doesn't publish their prices on the pricing page. A small cleaning business can run fine without any of them at first.

Which should you choose?

Choose Jobber if: you're solo or just starting, want the lowest entry price, and like having a true month-to-month option. Core is the cheapest way to get professional quotes, invoices and online booking, and you can move up to Connect when you're ready to automate reminders and payments. Try Jobber free for 14 days

Choose Housecall Pro if: you want automated invoice reminders, a price book, job costing and review management on the entry plan, or you have a crew and value GPS tracking, photo reports and commissions on the mid-tier plan. Try Housecall Pro free for 14 days

Our advice is to start both free trials in the same week and run real clients through each one: set up three recurring clients, send one quote, collect one payment. You'll know within a few days which app feels faster on your phone. That matters more than any feature list.

Not ready for monthly software yet? A free invoice template works for the first few clients. Our free invoice template guide is written for landscapers, but the template works for cleaning too. And once clients are booking, our review-building guide applies to cleaners as well.
